forsaking creature comforts. Discover the secret Tibetan Buddhist culture who
resides in scheduled Himalayan valley of Manaslu. This spectacular trek takes
you to the closest vicinity of mighty Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal and Boudha
Himal range. Moreover, the valley is a sanctuary of many highly endangered
animals like Snow leopard and Panda. More than 110 species of birds has been
identified so far in Manaslu region that includes golden eagle, Himalayan
Griffon, Kalij and more. Hunting is banned which helps in prosperity of fauna
in Manaslu region.
The people of Tsum
valley initially belongs from Tibetan origin who have their own ancient
dialect, art, culture and tradition. This divine place is dotted with
monasteries, mani wall, chorten and Buddhist sculpture. Tsum valley used to be
an important salt-trading route. Tsum lies on northern part of Manaslu and was
restricted for tourism until 2008. This is relatively less exposed region with
pristine landmarks and off beaten paths in comparison to other touristic
location of Nepal. Tsumbas have unique family structure, which might sound
surprising for others. All the brothers of the family are supposed to marry
single girl.
Many trekkers love to combine the Tsum valley
trek with the Manaslu circuit trek commencing the trail from Arughat and ending
to Besisashar (The starting point for Annapurna Circuit trek). The trail goes
through several ups and downs and passes small Hindu settlements before
entering into Tsum valley. Stretching to east of valley takes you to the area
of exceptional beauty and Tibetan influenced villages. Teahouses are readily
available throughout the trail but you can go for camping if you want to.
