Manaslu Trekking

Nestled in the northern Himalayan range of Gorkha District, Manaslu is the eighth highest peak and located about 64 km east of Annapurna. It is the huge serrated wall of snow and hanging ice in the sky. Trekking to Manaslu region was restricted until 1991, so this is one of highly preserved and protected area in Nepal in terms of culture, religion and natural landscapes. Despite of its increasing in popularity, it still sees few travelers in comparison to other classical trekking routes of Nepal. The trekking trail to Manaslu follows the ancient salt-trading route along the Bhuri Gandaki River. The majority of the trail is dominated by the constant view of peaks over 6,500m including a few peaks over 7,000m. The highest point of Manaslu region trekking is at Larkya La pass at an elevation of 5,106m. The trek starts low from 700m that exhibits the huge contrasts of landscapes from verdant mid hill scenery to highland panorama of hanging glacier.

Trekkers will encounter the unique and exceptional blend of authentic Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist village though out the trail. Manaslu region is also natural home to many species of endangered animals including rare snow-leopard, pandas, blue sheep, wolf, Thar and more. Moreover, this region shelters to over 110 species of birds and 33 species of mammals making it perfect place for bird watching and wildlife excursion. The Manaslu Conservation Area has been setup with the objective of conservation and sustainable management of the region. Furthermore, the conservation act banned the hunting of wildlife which helps them to prosper.
