Makalu Base Camp trek is an exclusive adventure trip for solitary trekkers who would like to immerse deep into the high Himalayan region and experience the stunning foothill of world’s fifth highest mountain. This trek offers an exceptional beauty of high altitude terrain, snow-capped mountain and true insight of ethnic tribe. Makalu Base is nestled at Sherson (4,700m), a high grassy gazing area located at the tip of Barun Glacier. It is located inside the territory of Makalu Baru National Park, an area internationally recognized for diversity of flora and fauna. Due to its relative inaccessibility, few tourists know about the region and very less information are available on the ground. The trail meanders through Barun valley which carries some of last remaining pristine forest and landscapes in Nepal.

The iconic journey to Makalu Base Camp commences with an hour of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar airport. The actual trek however starts from Chichila. The lower section of the trail is flourished with verdant rhododendron forest whereas the upper section carries numerous polished granite cliffs topped by hanging glacier. The incredible natural setting and towering Makalu, Everest, Lhotse and Baruntse are what you expect to encounter throughout the trail. Usually, this trek is carried by avid trekkers who love to explore pristine nature, rare wildlife, Himalayan culture and keen in photography.

Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu heritage sites and preparation for trekking

Day 03: Flight to Tumlingtar and drvie to Chichila (1,840m)

Day 04: Trek to Num (1,500m)

Day 05: Trek to Tashigaon (2,070m)

Day 06: Trek to Khongma (3,560m)

Day 07: Acclimatization day

Day 08: Trek to Debotay (3,800m) crossing Shipto La Pass

Day 09: Trek to Yangle Kharka (3,700m)

Day 10: Trek to Langmale Kahrka (4,450m)

Day 11: Rest and acclimatization day at Langmale Kharka

Day 12: Trek to Makalu Base Camp (4,900m)

Day 13: Exploration day at Makalu Base Camp

Day 14: Trek to Yangle Kahrka

Day 15: Trek to Mumbuk

Day 16: Trek to Khongma

Day 17: Trek to Tsahigaoun

Day 18: Trek to Num

Day 19: Trek to Chichila

Day 20: Trek to Mani Bhanjyang

Day 21: Trek to Tumlingtar

Day 22: Flight back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at hotel

Day 23: Final departure
